- Laminate gets easily damaged
One of the most frequent misconception regarding Laminate is that it lacks durability. Fortunately, this is more fiction than fact. This is because each panel is made up of at least four layers of strength: the base stabilizing layer, the substrate layer (which in Milano’s case is the Moisture Resistant MDF Core), the decorative pattern layer and the top wear-and-tear layer which is pressure, stain, scratch and wear resistant. This build-up of strength makes Laminate a durable choice of flooring, which can last for a good time with proper care.
- Laminate floors cannot be repaired without complete removal
Another myth regarding laminate flooring is that, in case of damage, spot treatment is not a possibility.
It stems from Laminate being confused with linoleum. Linoleum flooring is installed in large sheets and a damage can, at times, result in the entire flooring being replaced. In contrast to this, Laminate flooring comes in individual panel or planks, each of which can be repaired or replaced individually without making it look like an awkward patch-job. However, a plank-replacement will only be required in extreme cases, and often moderate damage can be fixed with a repair kit.
- Laminate floors are hard to clean and maintain
We don’t even know how and why this even became a myth in the first place because this is way off the mark! Taking care of a Laminate floor is very straightforward and simple. All you need is to sweep, dust mop, and lightly vacuum the floor every now and then to keep it at its best. In case, dirt particles, debris and any other stubborn inconveniences arise, a damp cloth can be your aid! Furthermore, because the laminate boards are tightly locked together, you can say goodbye to your worries regarding seams! (Yay!)
- Laminate can only look like wood
When most people think of laminate, a hardwood look-alike comes to mind. This has led to the common assumption that wood is only what laminate can look like. Although the popular choice is wood, Laminate can be designed to look like other flooring materials such as ceramic, marble or stone, and not just hardwood. You can achieve your desired look without disturbing your budget!
- Laminate is Expensive
Because Laminate is a high-quality material with many benefits, it is assumed that it must be very costly. Whereas, Laminate is more cost-effective than many other types of flooring materials such as hardwood, carpet, stone, and tile materials. It is just that it looks so attractive and exquisite that it is hard to believe that it can cost much less!
