Milano Laminate Flooring is naturally durable, making cleaning a breeze. But, there are some things you need to know before cleaning your Laminate Floor, to keep it looking great for years to come.
- Don’t Use too much Water:
Steer clear of the steam cleaners and wet mops. Steam mops use hot water to push steam onto the floor’s surface. Steam, which is water, can get through even the tightest of joints. The steam from a steam mop will cause your floor to peel, bubble, and swell, causing harm. You are in luck if it is us, because Milano’s Tap&Go Locking technology is warp, gap, and separation resistant, while our Wet Land Pine High-Density-Fiberboard (HDF) resists moisture on a whole other level. But it does not mean that you can be irresponsible with your beautiful floor. Frequent dust-mopping or a soft-bristle broom will do!
- Clean Spills and Stains on spot:
Don’t allow spills and stains to sit on your floor. Spills should be blotted up as soon as possible with a damp cloth. For tough stains like paint, nail polish, ink, lipstick, tar etc. by gently rubbing alcohol. To tackle spots like candle wax and chewing gum, harden them with ice, then gently scrape with a plastic scraper, such as a credit card, without scratching the surface. To clear any residue, clean the area with a damp cloth.
- Use Cleaning Products made Specifically for Laminate Floors
Never use wax or polishes on laminate floors. Soap, water, oil-soap detergent, or any other liquid cleaning product should not be used to wash or wet mop the surface. Oil-based cleaning products can leave streaks and residue, as well as damage the floor’s protective sealant. Avoid anything that can cause irreparable damage to your floor. If you do use laminate cleaner, use it sparingly and apply it to the mop or microfiber cloth instead of the floor itself. If you’re washing and reusing your mop heads, do it without the fabric softener. Fabric softeners contain chemicals that can dull the appearance of your laminate floors over time.
- Don’t Use anything Abrasive
Laminate floors can be scratch-resistant, but not scratch-proof. Steel wool, abrasive cleaners, and heavy ammoniated or chlorinated cleaners should all be avoided. All sorts of buffing and polishing machines are a no-no as well. Sweep, dust-mop or vacuum the floor with the hard floor attachment (not the beater bar) frequently to prevent dirt and grit from building up and scratching or dulling the floor finish.
- Take Precautions
To prevent trouble in future, take precautionary measures like using a welcome mat, trimming your pet’s nails, and using furniture pads, floor mats, and area rugs.
